Finding small ways to serve

Service does not always begin with a major commitment. Often, it starts by noticing the people and needs already around us.

St. Elizabeth of Hungary made care for people in need an important part of her life. Her example reminds us that charity can also take shape through ordinary choices: checking in on someone who may be lonely, preparing a meal for a neighbour, helping with a practical need, giving someone our full attention, or remembering a person in prayer.

These acts may seem small, but they can become meaningful expressions of faith when they are offered with compassion and consistency. Over time, they also help us become more attentive to the ways God may be calling us to serve.

As you move through the weeks ahead, consider asking yourself in prayer: Who might God be placing in my path today?
