2026 Pilgrimage: Assisi, La Verna, and Rome

In April 2026, pilgrims led by Franciscan Mission Associates traveled to Italy in celebration of the 800th Jubilee of St. Francis of Assisi. During this spiritual journey, pilgrims visited some of the most important places connected to the life of St. Francis and the early Franciscan movement.

The pilgrimage began in Assisi, where pilgrims prayed at the tomb of St. Francis, visited the Porziuncola, and celebrated Mass at Franciscan holy sites including San Damiano. The group then traveled to Gubbio, Fonte Colombo, Greccio, and La Verna, reflecting on Francis’ embrace of poverty, peace, prayer, and his reception of the stigmata.

The final days of the pilgrimage were spent in Rome, where pilgrims visited the Basilica of St. John Lateran, San Francesco a Ripa, and St. Peter’s Basilica. Throughout the journey, daily Mass, prayer, and fellowship allowed pilgrims to deepen their faith while walking in the footsteps of one of the Church’s most beloved saints.
