Shrines of France
12-Day Pilgrimage to the Shrines of France
May 9 – May 20, 2017
I would like to take this time to personally invite you, your relatives and friends to join us on this special pilgrimage! Please join Franciscan Mission Associates on an exciting 12 day pilgrimage to the “Heart of France”. We will embark on this trip through Lyon, Annecy, Nevers, Chartres, Lisieux, Mt.-St-Michel, Rouen, Paris, until we end our journey in Lourdes.
Our spiritual journey starts in Lyon, where we will visit the Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourviere which sits high atop the Fourviere Hill. We will head to Annecy, home of the beautiful Swiss French Resort, and enjoy a wonderful lunch with our group at a local restaurant. While in Annecy, we will visit the shrines of Saint Francis de Sales and St. Jane Frances de Chantal. Discover the beautiful monastery of Mont-St.Michel. Explore the coast of Normandy and Landing Beaches, including the American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer. Continue on to visit the little town of Lisieux, the home of St. Therese of the Child Jesus. Join us on a special cruise on the Seine and view historic architecture that spans a thousand years in one short trip!
Lastly, we will head to Lourdes, known today as the most famous healing Marian shrine of our times. On February 11, 1858, the Blessed Mother appeared to a young French peasant girl named Bernadette Soubirous. One important aspect of the Shrine of Lourdes is the miraculous water, first uncovered by Bernadette under the direction of the Virgin Mary and said to have a healing effect on many people. The “Miraculous Baths” are open year-round in Lourdes.
I hope you will join us along our own custom designed pilgrimage route. It promises to be a rewarding prayerful and memorable journey for all!
Joyfully yours in Christ,
Benefactors’ Pilgrimage Office of the Franciscan Mission Associates
