Province of the Immaculate Conception
The Province of the Immaculate Conception (IC Province) serves in six countries: the United States, Canada, Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Italy.
We seek to bring the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to peoples of all cultures, languages, and ways of life.
History of the IC Province
The IC Province’s origins go back to 1855, when a band of four friars came to the United States from Italy, arriving in New York.
We are part of the Order of Friars Minor (OFM) founded by St. Francis of Assisi. In this fraternity, the friars follow Jesus Christ more closely under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Through profession, they dedicate themselves totally to God whom they love above all, living the Gospel in the Church according to the form observed and proposed by St. Francis (General Constitutions of the Order of Friars Minor).
Where we serve
Today, IC Province numbers more than 80 friars and continues to minister throughout North and Central America — in missions, parishes, schools, retreat centers, outreach to the poor, and anywhere else that God leads us.
