St. Benedict the Moor

Feast Day – April 4

Of Ethiopian descent and Sicilian birth, Benedict went from being a hermit to a brother-cook, –guardian, -vicar, -novice master, and -cook again for the friars at Palermo.

Many asked for his prayers and advice because of his virtuous life and the reputation he had for working miracles.
